How do I get a Teacher Reference Number (TRN)?

You can register on this site to get your TRN. It's a 7-digit number that identifies you as a qualified teacher.

I've forgotten my TRN

If you have already registered, sign in to your account to view your TRN. You can also contact the Teaching Regulation Agency.

How do I check a teacher's certificate?

Go to the homepage and enter the teacher's details, including their TRN.

What qualifications are recognised?

• PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
• EYTS (Early Years Teacher Status)
• NPQ (National Professional Qualification)
